Welcome to Hampton Park Joey Scouts
Friday nights 5 ā 6.30 pm at Hampton Park Scout Hall ā cnr of Doyle and Mickleham Streets, Morley.
We are glad to welcome your child down to the Joey meetings for a number of visits, generally 4, to ensure that the programme is meeting your and their needs and expectations. During these visits we will cover Introduction to Scouting and Introduction to Section.
Once you have decided that you would like to register them, you will need to have filled out both your registration form (Y1) and health form (H1) to complete for registration. Branch Head Office will then send you out an email invoice for the Scout Association registration fee. This fee covers the insurance for our child while attending meetings and any outings. It is a 12 month fee, from the date of your initial registration. This fee needs to be paid promptly to ensure insurance coverage and to prevent deregistration by Branch.
There is also a group fee per term, payable to Hampton Park Scouts, which covers the costs of consumable materials such as craft stuffs, cooking ingredients, etc
Other expenses
The Joey Scout shirt which can be purchased online through the National Scout Shop (We sometimes have second hand shirts available for a reduced cost)
Group scarf (from the group)
Any plain navy shorts or pants (not denim)
Dark socks and dark, enclosed shoes.
For various messy activities, we generally suggest a group activity shirt (from the group). As the same style shirt is worn by all sections, we generally suggest getting a slightly larger shirt to maximise the usage.
At the Joey level, we try to keep any outings at a minimal cost, often free, but Branch events and the end of the year Group Camp do cost a bit more.
Our section leaders are myself (Alison/Bilby), Adrian (Dingo), Robin (Tamar) and Ray (Croc). We also have several registered adult helpers, and sometimes have a parent roster. With the required adult/child ratios set out by the Scout Association, this allows us to have a Joey mob of 20 ā 25 Joeys in the hall. We may sometimes call on extra adult helpers for activities outside of the hall, if necessary.
I prefer to do my communications through email and will send out outing forms and other information on a regular basis.
Iām looking forward to sharing our unit with you and your child and I hope that you have an enjoyable scouting journey. Yours in Scouting, Bilby.
