Adults in Scouting

Although Scouting is a youth movement, it does require adults to function. All adult positions within the group are voluntary and we are always looking for adults to join the group, whether it is a committee position or as an adult helper assisting in one of the sections or even a leadership position.

Leaders

All the leaders in our Group began either as parents like you or enjoyed Scouting as a youth member and chose to put something back to the group and Association. The leaders not only care about the young people under our guidance, but also about our community. Our Leaders are actively involved in planning and implementing projects to help our local community, and in expanding the community awareness of the young people in our group. The Leaders offer some fantastic programs for the youth and of course, the proof is in the smiles that we see every day.

Becoming a leader is very rewarding. The Scout Association offer a world class training program that not only gives you leadership abilities, it gives adults the opportunity to gain recognised qualifications in Leadership and Small Business.

As an adult helper, you can assist the leaders deliver a better program, enjoy the activities and spend time with your child. Who knows you may even enjoy it so much that you decide to become a leader!

The Group Committee

The Group Committee is a very important part of our Scout Group. The committee’s role is to manage the group’s finances, the property (our Scout Hall) and work to provide the leaders with the tools to deliver the best possible program. Parents are welcome to attend committee meetings at any time. Attending gives you the chance to represent your child’s section and support the leaders. The Committee meets regularly and are happy to welcome new members and visitors.
